| ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) announced the possibility of using multi-lingual media in Internet, particularly, in spring of 2009 domain .рф in Cyrillic will emerge in Internet. As a whole increase of the first level domains number will take place – towns will be able to have their own domains (.moscow, .london), there will be a possibility to use the name of a company or its area of business as a domain name. Individuals will be able to acquire such names. Now there are only two types of the upper level domains: designation of a country (.ru., uk, etc), or 1 of 21 domains of branch-wise or general purpose (.com, .org, .net, etc). |
