IFA’S 56-th Annual Franchising Convention (IFA 2016)

Sergey Medvedev, PhD, LLM, Senior Lawyer (Gorodissky & Partners, Moscow), attended the IFA’s 56th Annual Franchising Convention in San Antonio (USA). Certain commercial and legal issues in the franchising area were considered at the Convention, specifically the issues related to conclusion, registration and performance of the franchise transactions in the US and on the international level, rights and responsibilities of the rights holders (franchisors) and users (franchisees) in the framework of the underlying agreements, brand management and brand protection in social media and on the Internet, negotiations in the course of the deal and during execution of the agreements, franchise dispute resolution. Special attention was delivered at the Conference as to different aspects of international franchising. The Conference gathered about 4000 participants/delegates in total, including business people, CEOs, lawyers and attorneys, from around the globe.
