Legal advanced studies seminar
14 October 2019Sergey Medvedev, PhD, LLM, Partner (Gorodissky & Partners, Moscow), within the Gorodissky IP School project gave a presentation on "Internet-related Disputes" at the legal advanced studies seminar within the program "Intellectual Property: Court Practices and Current Legal Issues” held by the Law Institute "M-Logos".
The speaker outlined the main legal and practical aspects of enforcement of exclusive rights in cases of illegal use of trademarks, copyrights and other IP subject-matters on the Internet. In particular, Medvedev presented the landmark precedents and the recent trends in resolution of disputes related to websites and domain names, keywords and meta-tags, online intermediary liability and application of the local anti-piracy legislation. Special attention was paid by the speaker to the peculiarities of legal protection and enforcement of a web-site as the compilation work.
The speaker’s presentation was accompanied by different court cases, including from the personal practice. The lecture was attended by over 30 lawyers and legal counsels from various industries, in particular industrial, telecom and FMCG-sectors.
