From the Russian perspective, a product’s design can be protected by obtaining a patent for industrial design. An exclusive right to an industrial design is recognized and protected in Russia only upon its registration, which is followed by the issuance of a respective design patent. The availability of national, international and regional filing routes gives applicants considerable flexibility in building a design protection strategy for Russia.
