Regulations to the Eurasian Patent Convention dedicated to Eurasian industrial designs are approved

On April 12, 2021, the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization (EAPO) approved Patent Regulations to the Eurasian Patent Convention (EAPC) in the part dedicated to Eurasian industrial designs (Part II "Industrial Designs" of the Patent Regulations to the EAPC), as well as the Regulation on the EAPO fees for the actions taken in relation to Eurasian applications and patents for industrial designs.

The documents establish material and procedural rules in relation to Eurasian industrial designs, including the conditions of patentability, the procedure for establishing priority, the scope of legal protection, the duration of the Eurasian patent, the procedure for handling Eurasian applications and Eurasian patents, the amount and procedure for paying fees in relation to Eurasian industrial designs.

These documents came in force from the moment of their approval while design applications will be accepted by the Eurasian patent office beginning June 1, 2021.
